Julie Mills Celebrates Five Years Clear with Tough Mudder

MSPs
After receiving her five years and clear from cancer Julie Mills, Train to Win, has completed a Tough Mudder to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Julie tells her story. "April 2010, just after returning from an amazing work ski trip my world fell apart. I was diagnosed with grade 3, stage 2 Breast Cancer. Some of you guys knew me and formed part of my journey to beat it. My treatment plan was gruelling and cruel at times, chemotherapy and 9 surgeries, losing my hair was the easy part! I have spent the last 5 years wondering if I would ever get my ‘All Clear’ as you do not get the ‘All clear’ badge for 5 years. Well that time has come and I am not going to let it pass me by without making a splash!"

"I am fundraising for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. They saved my life and one day they will save your loved ones or even you! My challenge is for those who are cancer survivors, those battling today and those I have met along the way and weren’t quite as lucky."

Tough Mudder is not a race, it is about helping your team mates and for that reason Julie has carefully selected a team of elite athletes (excluding the Mills twins). The event consists of a 13 mile run and 25 obstacles including electrocution, tear gas and contaminated ice baths!

Julies continued "My story is not unique or sadly rare, but it is an example of the work and progress being made in Cancer today! Cancer affects us all in some way! Please help me to raise money so there are more people doing crazy things like Tough Mudder to celebrate their ALL CLEAR!"
