Kelway Wins Samsung Champions Cup

Samsung has held its annual Samsung UK Champions Cup – a football tournament that brings together distributors and some of the UK’s largest reseller partners – at the Surrey Sports Park. The hotly contested tournament was won by the Kelway team who walked away with VIP hospitality tickets to a Chelsea FC Premier League match next season, as well as the Champions Cup trophy for 2011.

The tournament featured 12 teams from Samsung’s key IT channel partners, each dressed in a uniform of Samsung branded football tops for the occasion. In a Champions League-style knockout the competition gave participants the chance to engage and network with their peers. The tournament ended in Kelway beating Westcoast to win the final, but not before Westcoast scored two goals in the first half resulting in a very intense second half which saw Kelway score two quick goals and a final rocket from their key player Dariush Heravi with just three minutes to go.

Graham Long, Vice President of IT, UK and Ireland, at Samsung said, “The day was an opportunity for some of Samsung’s key IT business channel partners to come together, network and enjoy playing football against each other. This annual event demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to football and our channel partners at all levels. We firmly believe in the appeal of team sports and the positive interaction that this event offers for channel professionals in the IT industry.

“It was fantastic to see an incredibly high standard of football and fun being had by all. Our congratulations go out to Kelway,” Graham Long continued.

The competition featured teams representing Computer 2000, Danwood, ETC, European Electronique, Ingram Micro, Kelway, Micro P, Midwich, Misco, Stone, Westcoast and XMA who battled it out to be crowned champions.
