Yahoo finally broke Google’s dominance this month with the shortest download time of 4.08 seconds for its mobile site. However, Google did not slip too far from the top, achieving second place in terms of response time, and continuing to be the most reliable mobile site with an availability of 97.73%.
Social networking giant Facebook was the only other site to have a download time below five seconds, but it also had poorest availability of only 87.15%.
Though Eurosports didn’t fare too well in response time and availability categories it did have the highest download speed for its site, with MSN second in that category.
Nisheeth Mohan, Product Manager, Mobile at Keynote Systems, stated: “Overall mobile performance seems to be improving with all monitored sites downloading in less than nine seconds. However, reliability is still a concern for all mobile sites and there is still a long way to go before they can catch up with the overall performance levels we see on the Internet.”
