Lanway serves up virtualisation for The Mansion Group

IT services and communications specialist, Lanway, has completely virtualised the server environment of student accommodation and property investment firm, The Mansion Group.

The Cheadle-based property specialist – whose sales hit £136 million in 2011 - had outgrown its IT infrastructure, requiring a growing number of servers with decreasing space available.

Using the latest VMware and Dell technologies, Lanway consolidated The Mansion Group’s servers through virtualisation, increasing the equipment’s efficiency and making it more cost effective in the process. The project also saw Lanway deliver an enterprise level backup and disaster recovery system for the property firm.

The Mansion Group’s inhouse IT administrator has benefited from full training, and Lanway specialists are always on hand to provide extra support for high-level issues.

The project has created a scalable IT infrastructure for The Mansion Group, which has grown consistently since its formation in 2007.

Andrew Henderson, managing director at Lanway, commented: “We’ve worked with The Mansion Group for many years, so we were well placed to offer them consultation, design and implementation to improve their server setup.

“Virtualisation is something our customers are increasingly turning to - not only can it save money, it also helps to future-proof. The Mansion Group is now perfectly set with an IT system that can handle all further growth.”

Marcus Brenchley, head of IT at The Mansion Group, commented: “The project has lowered our operating expenditure, reduced our long term capital expenditure and improved efficiency – it’s an ideal solution in many ways. We’ve also retained full control of our infrastructure, but it’s good to know that there’s an extra level of support there if we need it.”
