Synchronica, the AIM listed mobile email, instant messaging and data synchronisation provider, and its collaboration partners, has launched the MessagePhone, a low cost messaging-centric device aimed at emerging markets, today in London.
The MessagePhone comes bundled with Synchronica Mobile Gateway and an HTML browser to enable push email and mobile synchronisation services, mobile IM, web browsing and access to social networking sites.
Commenting on the launch, Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, said: "With two contracts for the MessagePhone already agreed, and a significant addressable market in emerging economies - where the mobile Internet is a cost effective alternative to the lack of fixed line and PC penetration - we are confident that the device will prove successful."
