LCS Update from Philips

Chris de Silva, UK Managing Director of NEC Philips Unified Solutions, has brought us up to date with their Microsoft Live Communications Server strategy, Comms Business Magazine is polling all the major PBX vendors as part of our three part look at MS LCS from a channel perspective.

Part II has just been published in out June issue with the final pert due in July.

Chris de Silva “Microsoft is collaborating with NEC Philips Unified Solutions to enable further integration between the business telephony infrastructure and the rich collaboration environment on the PC, allowing customers to more effectively communicate in real time using all available media.

The collaboration is part of the developments announced by NEC and Microsoft, whereby the two companies agreed to expand their collaborative relationship for IT/network convergence, including among other developments, new projects in the enterprise networking area. NEC and Microsoft will share the development roadmap and will mutually cooperate on technologies. Microsoft will provide NEC with support in marketing for the global expansion of the solution.

The collaboration provides enhanced integration between the NEC Philips UNIVERGE SV7000 IP telephony portfolio (including servers and application suite) and Microsoft's real-time communications platform, Microsoft(R) Office Live Communications Server 2005.

The combined solution provides customers a truly unified, seamless and collaborative environment for business applications and (IP) telephony control, giving users access to real time, multi-directional information independent of device and location.

Installations are already being undertaken with customers throughout Europe, America and Japan.”
