Scottish PLC of the Year iomart Group plc today announced that it has joined forces with Scotland’s leading unified communications specialist Commsworld, to create a complete hosted voice and data offering to the private and public sector.

iomart Group’s data centres will provide the cloud and managed hosting platforms to support Commsworld’s entire range of data and telecommunications products and services. As a result businesses and organisations will be able to better integrate their voice and data communications systems and enjoy improved stability and security. Commsworld customers will also get connectivity to one of the fastest data centre networks in the UK.

Angus MacSween, CEO of iomart Group plc, said: “With the rise of mobile workforces and the growing need for guaranteed connectivity for mobile and VOIP communications, it’s natural for us to work with companies in this field. Both Commsworld and iomart have a substantial presence in Scotland so together we can give the Scottish cloud a voice.”

Ricky Nicol, CEO of Commsworld, said: “Many companies have their communications provided through one supplier and their hosting via a third party. iomart is a hugely respected hosting brand in the SME and Enterprise market so it makes perfect sense for us to team up to offer an enhanced suite of cloud services and converged communications via a single hosting and communications provider.”

iomart Group plc and Commsworld are both award-winning Scottish headquartered companies. iomart Group, which is headquartered in Glasgow, was crowned Scottish plc of the Year 2012 and won the award for Outstanding Business Growth at the recent Digital Technology Awards organised by ScotlandIS. It has around 300,000 hosting customers including Scottish companies like Stagecoach, Skyscanner and STV.

Commsworld is headquartered in Edinburgh with offices in Glasgow and Aberdeen. It has around 3000 customers, and made two significant acquisitions in 2011 as the company continues to grow and offer new solutions to its clients. Clients include Historic Scotland, Glenmorangie, Kwik Fit and Subsea 7.

Phil Worms, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications for iomart Group, said: “The relationship between iomart Hosting and Commsworld is based on both companies’ belief in good customer relations. Businesses can trust our technical teams to architect and deliver the complete compliant solutions for all their data and communications needs, especially their growing demand for virtualised voice platforms.”
