Linkedin turns 10, Seimens comments

As social media penetrates our businesses sites like Linkedin are becoming an essential tool rather than a nice-to-have add on. Working in the office is slowly becoming a thing of the past as we all strive for mobility solutions so we can get things done where ever we are in the world.

Trevor Connell, managing director at Siemens Enterprise Communications, comments:

“Technology trends including BYOD and social media are significantly reducing our dependence on physical offices. A Siemens Enterprise Communications survey recently found that only a quarter of people now spend all five working days in the office. As LinkedIn celebrates its 10th anniversary, the evolution of the site highlights how people have become accustomed to continuous engagement, driven by a thirst for knowledge, using online collaboration tools.

With the need for employees to do their jobs on the move, LinkedIn now allows mobile workers to post activity updates and the ability to share interesting articles enabling teams to communicate and expand their knowledge without physically needing to be in the same office. This encourages both personal and professional collaboration. Mobile teams remain efficient and productive with the ability to interact as if they were in a single meeting room.

Effective team communication and collaboration enables a more informed business. The LinkedIn anniversary should not be an occasion to reflect, but to look at how we can continue to encourage team collaboration and mobile productivity.”
