M247 Attracts Big Hitter Sales Manager

Clive Stone joins Manchester based Internet Infrastructure firm M247 as Sales Manager.

Clive has been involved with the Internet industry for a while now and has won some big hits with major accounts right across Europe, the Middle East and North America. His area of expertise is in the highly specialised world of Wholesale Network provision, an area that, to most users of the Internet, is simply invisible. Clive explains, “If you’re not familiar with technologies such as BGP IP Transit, Data Centre Backhaul or Peering and Internet Exchanges, suffice it to say that our job is all about providing the infrastructure that enables the Internet to operate. There’s not many companies in the UK that can provide solutions for this vital part of the Internet but M247 has been doing it behind the scenes for many years. It’s now my job to put M247 in the mind of anyone wanting these sort of services and it’s all about building trust relationships with the customers who will need our services”.

Although the competition count in this area is relatively low, those that are around are big players and, after a great deal of recent investment, M247 is now ready to take them on. Clive is very technically adept and has hit the ground running at M247. He will soon be recruiting his own technical sales team who, although they will be focussing initially on the Wholesale Network market, they will eventually grow to cover the sales of many of M247’s more specialised solutions.

M247 Managing Director David Buckle said, “With many jobs in our industry heading to the south of the UK, it makes a refreshing change to attract somebody of Clive’s calibre to Manchester which, because of what companies like ours have been doing, is growing into a sizable Internet hub outside of London. He represents a change of culture to part of M247 as, up until now, we’ve largely developed sales from our own relationships within the industry. We’ve grown significantly over the past few years and it’s now time to move up to another level. Clive is part of our strategy to enable us to do this but existing customers needn’t worry that they will lose contact with M247 Directors, we will all still be here dealing with the day to day routines that help keep our customers happy”.

Clive’s customers are likely to come from a global marketplace and, although he already has leads for potential new UK business, he says he is also targeting the rest of Europe and intends to build on the infrastructure presence that M247 has already established in places such as Bucharest, Prague and mainland Western Europe. The groundwork has already been done and M247 has one of the largest private networks in the UK with a reach far into Europe and a strategically important London by-pass connection that links Manchester directly with mainland Europe. The company also has direct peering relationships with all of the main European Internet Exchanges so are already well placed to extend its Wholesale Network solutions within the market.
