Mayflex raise £20,000 for 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami Victims

Distributor Mayflex has helped to rebuild a village in Sri Lanka. In March 2005 the company held a golf day to raise funds for the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami appeal.

Both Mayflex customers and suppliers submitted a team for the golf day and paid a £500 entry fee which, along with Mayflex donating 50p from each order placed in January and February 2005, helped to raise £20,000. The funds were donated to help rebuild one of the villages in Sri Lanka that was totally destroyed by the Tsunami.

The complete development comprises of 85 dwellings, 20 of which were sponsored by Mayflex. The village has been designed to create a community environment with open spaces and communal areas. Each house comes with a plot size of approximately half an acre to enable the families to grow and provide food for them selves.

Andrew Percival, Managing Director of Mayflex commented, “The response we had from our customers and suppliers when we announced that we were holding a charity golf event was amazing. Each team that took part in the day was given the opportunity to name the house that their funding went towards building and have now been awarded with a certificate to mark their contribution. Overall the generosity of all those involved was outstanding”.
