Mayrise Software Helps Deliver Ultrafast Community Broadband

Street works management software from Mayrise Systems has helped Gigaclear with the installation and planning for their latest Ultrafast Internet service

The new pure fibre network is delivering next generation Internet access at speeds of up to 1000 Mbps to 400 homes and businesses in the rural communities of Appleton and Eaton in Oxfordshire. Construction of the new buried fibre network began in July and the Mayrise software was used to communicate essential information about work on the public highway to the local authority helping Gigaclear comply with street works legislation.

“The street works software from Mayrise made communication with the relevant highways authority really easy,” commented Grant Ogilvie, Operations Manager at Gigaclear. “Although we have the authority to undertake works on the highway we have to liaise with the local authority in order to minimise disruption to the community and other road users. The Mayrise software guided us through this process and allowed us to concentrate on what we do best … delivering ultrafast Internet access to rural communities addressing the pent up need for decent broadband.”

Gigaclear is governed by Ofcom’s Electronic Communications Code, which enables providers to construct electronic communications networks. The Code enables providers to construct infrastructure on public land, however they must first gain permission from the local highway authority applying up to three months in advance. The local highway authority co-ordinates all street works, ensure compliance with any restrictions placed on the licence to work and ensures the highway is reinstated to an acceptable level.

MAYRISE for Street Works is a complete solution for managing street work notices for both highways authorities and statutory undertakers such as Gigaclear. Handling the Street Works Register, National Street Gazetteer, maintenance, inspections management, defect reporting and locational referencing, the system eliminates paperwork, ensures best practice and provides up to date information on the status of all works. MAYRISE Street Works also offers full compliance with EToN 5 a new specification that allows the introduction of Permit Schemes, adds facilities for Unattributable Works, Section 50 licences, FPN via email and Notice Attachments and EToN 6 due next year.
