mBlox launches compliance tool

mBlox, a global transaction network, has announced the UK launch of its new mBlox Detect technology which will help identify suspicious patterns of billing traffic running through its network. This tool will act as an early warning system to help mBlox quickly identify to PhonepayPlus instances where customers may not be in compliance with service provider regulatory requirements.

The traffic analysis will be run periodically across mBlox’s network and will help staff identify possible breaches by customers of their contractual obligation to observe all operator and regulatory requirements, well before they might otherwise have been alerted by consumer complaints.

mBlox Detect has been made possible through a £250,000 investment in technology that forms part of mBlox’s Evolution Programme to implement the latest generation of infrastructure technologies. It will enable mBlox to analyse traffic patterns in a fraction of the time required previously, now making it practical to generate and examine this data.

Jeff Clark, CEO at mBlox, comments: “Recently there has been a worrying rise in the compliance failures by mobile content providers. While many of these are accidental breaches, this is not something that can continue for the good of the consumer and the good of the content industry as a whole.

“mBlox Detect will enable us, for the first time, to identify certain suspicious traffic patterns or instances of genuine error by mBlox customers at the earliest possible moment,” he continued. “We believe that this capability will greatly enhance the ability to protect consumers and for PhonepayPlus to ensure compliance by our customers with their obligation to respect the PhonepayPlus Code.”

The launch of mBlox Detect is part of a series of initiatives to specifically help build consumer trust by directly addressing compliance. Other plans include the introduction of an mBlox short code checker to assist consumers in identifying the providers of services transparently, easily and without delay.
