Reading based Mettoni Group has announced the appointment of Alex Black as Chief Technology Officer. Black takes charge of software product strategy, research and development across the whole Mettoni Group.

Mettoni Group MD Gary Young says “Alex Black’s breadth of experience in the industry makes him a valuable addition to our company. I’m sure that his expertise in the Unified Communications market will contribute to the further success of Mettoni and help us to continue to develop exciting and compelling products and services.”

Black began his IT career as a British Aerospace systems programmer before making his name at DEC, where he progressed to Technical Director of the global finance division. He held senior positions at P&P and GE Capital before co-founding a business strategy consultancy that counted HP and IBM among its clients.

Having been employed at a senior level in SNSL/Omnetica and Kingston Communications, Black subsequently played a key part in the overall development of the new resultant organisation, Affiniti. As Strategy Director, Alex also played a vital role in the acquisitions of Smart 421 and Jam IP.

He says: “Having always respected the quality of Mettoni's products and services, it is a pleasure to work with a company that has such a strong commitment to developing new technology that benefits our clients’ business and the needs of their customers.”
