Micro-P Expands Product Range and Customer Base with New Acquisition

Distributor Micro Peripherals Ltd (Micro-P) has acquired Advent Data Limited (Advent) for an initial consideration of £10.2 million. Advent is a Yorkshire-based distributor of Dell, Epson, Oki, Konica Minolta, Canon, Lexmark, Samsung and Brother products, with a turnover of £129 million.

Micro-P’s managing director, Gerry O’Keeffe stated ‘the acquisition of Advent Data gives us the ability to offer very competitive prices to our broader dealer base and to extend hardware sales into Advent Date. The success of Advent has been built on specialist expertise, ethic and constant focus on customer service, so it is important to us that it is very much business as usual with our focus being on incremental sales across both companies.

Gerry continued, ‘Advent will keep its brand name and remain an independent unit. In addition, Advent’s managing director, Raj Advani and sales director, Rob Barneveld will continue to drive Advent for many years and have signed a minimum three year contract. We are all very excited by opportunities for growth this acquisition offers both companies as we enter our new financial year.’

Raj Advani said, ‘selling the business we have worked hard building for 20 years was a big decision but having met the management teams from DCC Sercom and Micro-P, we knew immediately it was the right decision. The low crossover of customers presents an exciting opportunity to achieve some aggressive growth in the coming years and we very much look forward to exciting times ahead.’

Micro-P’s parent company DCC, predicts that buying Advent will allow it to grow market share in the reseller distribution market. DCC’s Chief Executive, Tommy Breen stated, “Advent is highly complementary to DCC SerCom’s reseller distribution business in the UK in terms of product range and customer base. This acquisition will significantly strengthen DCC’s market position in the electronics office supplies market.”
