The Naomi House Director’s Dig, MEGAHIKE and the National Three Peaks Challenge raised funds for both Naomi House Children’s Hospice, Micro-P’s nominated local charity in Hampshire and MedEquip4kids a charity that provides equipment for local hospitals to support the medical treatment of children across the North of England. Combined, the three events generated an overall fund raising figure of £20,000 as well as £3,000 worth of donated computer hardware for staff and children to use.
Sponsored Director’s Dig - Naomi House, Winchester, Hampshire
The director’s sponsored dig at Naomi House Children’s Hospice generated £10,000. Just days away from the end of their first financial quarter all ten Micro-P directors swapped familiar shirts and ties for gardening gloves and wellingtons. The team turned their hands to gardening, pond clearing, sweeping, digging and generally helping out around the gardens at the hospice. After a hard day toiling in the heat a cheque for £10,000 was presented to Tina Starbuck, Corporate Fundraiser at Naomi House, together with a selection of donated computer hardware for staff and children to use.
“It was a very fulfilling day and it was the least we could do for such a worthwhile charity,” said Nick Foster HR Director, Micro-P. “We are now planning what we can do next to raise even more funds and awareness.”

Support like this is very important to us and makes a real difference to the life-limited children and young people, and their families who stay with us. We have enjoyed working with everyone at Micro-P and look forward to continuing a very successful charity partnership.”
MEGAHIKE - MedEquip4Kids
MEGAHIKE is one of the toughest team challenges within the UK. The monster
50 mile hike is set in the heart of the Pennines and treks along the backbone of England, the Pennine Way. In June 2011 a team of courageous Micro-P employees put their best foot forward trekked from sunrise to sunset and in the space of 24 hours covered a gruelling 50 miles. The team completed the challenge in the allotted time raising over £3,802 and still rising for MedEquip4Kids, a charity that provides equipment for local hospitals to support the medical treatment of children. MedEquip4Kids was founded in 1985 and works with medical staff, play therapists, community nurses and several registered charities to provide equipment and improve the environment in hospitals across the North of England.
“We are overwhelmed with the support we have received from Micro-P. Clearly they are not phased at all by a bit of sweat, blood and tears,” said Sarah Suthers, Appeals Fundraiser, MedEquip4Kids. “Over the past 2 years they have raised over £8,500 for us by participating in the MEGAHIKE.
Every single blister has been well worth it! With the support from companies like Micro-P we are able to continue to ensure children and babies have the best start in life. A big thankyou to them for their support and we hope to see them at next year’s event!”
National Three Peaks Challenge – Naomi House, Winchester, Hampshire
In April 2011 a team of intrepid Micro-P individuals completed the National Three Peaks Challenge. A challenge that involves fearlessly attempting to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours! The peaks included Snowdon in Wales (1,085m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,344m). Overall, the team covered over 26 miles, walked for over 14 hours and endured 10 hours of driving and 9,700 feet of ascent. Their commitment and dedication raised over £2,500 for Naomi House Children’s Hospice, Winchester, Hampshire.
