In a post on LinkedIn Joe Marci, VP UK Commercial Partner at Microsoft, has announced he is to call time on his 24 year career at the tech giant. He will return to Ireland to be with his family and continue to work in some non-executive roles which he is yet to announce.

Macri's message instantly attracted comments and praise from the industry for what was an impressive career.

In his blog post on the site he said "I want to thank all the incredible people with whom I have had the privilege to work & learn from, I have been truly fortunate to work with so many colleagues, partners, & customers across 30 countries. I am also thankful that Microsoft has provided me this amazing opportunity to learn, grow, & contribute in so many different parts of the business including establishing our UK SMB business, creating and leading our Irish Subsidiary, launching our commercial cloud business in Western Europe, leading Microsoft’s EMEA Public Sector business as we began our digital transformation journey and, most recently, returning to the UK in my current role leading our UK Partner Business where I’ve had the great fortune to work with our fantastic UK Partners as they create new AI capabilities and accelerate their transformation to the cloud.

Finally, given the importance of our Partner ecosystem to our business, I wanted to personally reinforce that my focus remains to lead our UK Commercial Partner Business till the summer and support a smooth transition for my successor."
