Mitel Wins Global Technology Innovator Award

Mitel has won the VMware Partner Network Award for Global Technology Innovator. The award was presented at VMware Partner Exchange 2010, VMware's annual partner event, on Feb. 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"VMware's partners continue to be the bedrock of our business, and we are pleased to recognize the great work they have accomplished throughout the year," said Doug Smith, senior director, global partner sales, VMware. "VMware Partner Exchange brings partners together for four days filled with training, education and networking with peers – making this the premier event to help them strengthen their virtualization practices and distinguish themselves in the marketplace. We congratulate Mitel, and we look forward to continuing our work together to help deliver virtualization solutions for customers building private cloud infrastructures."

Mitel and VMware recently announced Virtual Mitel Communications Director (Virtual MCD), part of the new Mitel Virtual Solutions software portfolio. As a virtual appliance, Virtual MCD leverages VMware vSphere 4 to enable customers to consolidate Mitel's voice applications alongside non-voice business applications in the datacenter. Mitel and VMware already have a number of joint customers that have deployed Virtual MCD.

"For nearly two years, Mitel and VMware have been working together to solve the latency issues with virtualizing voice," said Stephen Beamish, Mitel vice-president of corporate marketing and business development. "This collaboration has led to the industry's first real-time voice communications applications running in a virtualized data center environment. We look forward to continuing to develop innovative solutions with VMware that have the potential to drive capital and operational savings, productivity improvements and resource efficiencies in datacenter management, and risk mitigation for business continuity and disaster recovery plans."
