Mobotix Grows Channel with Training, Accreditation and New Products

Mobotix AG, a leading manufacturer of digital high-resolution, network-based video security systems has announced its tiered channel programme which was launched last year and now boasts over 70 accredited regional partners. The Mobotix UK channel is the fastest growing of any CCTV vendor and ranges from traditional security installers, through to new entrants to IP-based video security and a growing number of traditional IT systems integrators keen to expand services in to new areas.

MOBOTIX, working with key distributors ADI Gardiner and Mayflex has delivered over 60 days of training events and seminars in the last year alone. These include sessions on IP networking fundamentals to help partners moving from a background in analogue systems to adopt IP based solutions.

“The UK is undergoing a major shift in CCTV deployment,” comments Mike Lewis, Mobotix UK & Eire Country Manager, “away from analogue, low quality and hard to manage technology to next generation all digital systems that reduce deployment and management costs while delivering better quality images suitable for applications such as subject recognition which ultimately aid successful prosecutions.”

Mobotix has also recruited a growing number of networking and IT focused partners into its channel programme. “If you look at voice, it quickly becomes obvious that many organisations could make significant savings and improve services by using a single voice and data network - the CCTV industry is starting to head in this direction” comments Lewis, “By designing features into the Mobotix range such as SIP, built-in-firewalls, PoE, low bandwidth streaming all delivered in a distributed architecture, Mobotixis well suited to meet the needs of the next generation of CCTV deployments using shared fixed and wireless IP networks.”

Launched at the Mobotix national partner event in June, the new MobotixQ22 is an example of the vendor delivering a unique product to help its channel differentiate itself in a crowded market. The Q22 is the world’s first 360 degree coverage, 3 megapixel security camera able to view and record a whole room. With no moving parts and a built-in technology to digitally flatten, pan, tilt and zoom any image, the Q22 is extremely well suited to retail and educational deployment.

“For a long time, we have been considered by many as the technology leader in the CCTV industry but the challenge now is to show how technological innovation can be utilised to deliver real world benefits and supporting our channel is essential.” Lewis adds.

Mobotix has also enhanced its Mobotix Control Centre (MXCC) software to allow its channel to deliver value add features and integration technologies such as bi-directional audio including VoIP, access control and viewing multiple cameras simultaneous over the internet. The channel has also benefited from projects sponsored by Mobotix with a number of major CCTV control software vendors to include and support the low bandwidth MxPEG codec used across the Mobotix range.

“As a 100% channel focused business, we are endeavouring to listen to and develop solutions based on their needs which ultimately match the direction of the market,” comments Lewis, “With an estimated 4 million CCTV cameras set to be installed or replaced between now and the Olympics, it is potentially another golden era for our industry and a time to deploy technology that delivers real long term benefits.”
