Moulton Cisco Plans

Neil Moulton, who left Siemens after ten years as channel supreme to join Cisco as their Business Development Manager for Advanced Technologies, has spoken of his plans for 2006.

“I have a broad remit to bring on resellers for Cisco products outside of our core switching portfolio. That means security, voice, video and Wi-Fi.”

Moulton continues, “With regards to voice, Cisco has recognised that they need to talk a common language with voice resellers and as a result the company has put a lot of weight behind voice by recruiting people like Clive Sawkins and myself. If you look at where Cisco has progressed in voice we are very string in the enterprise space but we need to provide some focus and get all of our guns aligned in the SME and mid markets. I have been pleasantly surprised by the high level of investment and support that Cisco has already made. There is an awful lot behind the Cisco channel that is probably not visible today that I want to bring to the attention of the channel and you will progressive announcements from me over the next few months.

I had a great time at Siemens, five years running their channel operation and got some great time but Cisco approached and wanted to get the benefit of the experience I had gained whilst I believe fully converged player like Cisco is going to lead the market – and I wanted to be part of that.

My initial focus will be on CallManager Express for the voice channel and there will be an opportunity for Linksys 1 for service providers wanting to get involved in hosted IP telephony. We need to understand each partner’s business model and provide them with a route map showing the value Cisco products can add to their business. It’s about getting in close contact with our customers and understanding what makes their business tick.”

Moulton confirmed that new partners recruited to his cause will be serviced by their Tier 2 distributors, Comstor and Azlan.
