Murphx launches Bi-Directional QoS at Convergence Summit North

Murphx launched its new quality of service (QoS) product, Bi-Directional QoS, at this year’s Convergence Summit North.

With Bi-Directional QoS, resellers can provide their customers with the ability to use multiple applications successfully over a single DSL connection, without the quality of any of the applications being affected.

The product was demonstrated at the show, with video conferencing, VoIP plus web browsing and downloading being used by an office simultaneously, with no interference by any of the bandwidth-hungry apps on the others, claimed Carl Churchill, commercial director at Murphx.

Churchill commented: “Companies try to run all these apps at the same time, but then they don’t work together properly. We, as a wholesale connectivity provider, have a vested interest in making sure all these apps do run properly, as we will grow our business through it.”

Murphx developed the product inhouse. It is a standalone product that can be added to any of the broadband packages sold by Murphx to the channel.

Churchill added: “We had a good reaction to the product at Convergence Summit North. People were really interested in it and spent a lot of time on our stand, looking at what it can deliver. The Northern show just gets better for us every year.”
