NEC adds new ultra-compact iPASOLINK 100E product to its packet microwave portfolio

NEC Corporation announced today the launch of iPASOLINK 100E as the latest addition to its iPASOLINK portfolio of transport network solutions.

Network operators can benefit from iPASOLINK 100E’s high capacity microwave transmission with cutting edge Carrier Ethernet capabilities and low cost of ownership due to its ultra-compact hardware design. It makes an ideal solution for fast and cost effective provision of a wide range of carrier services, including, among others, enterprise connectivity, public utility networks and mobile backhaul.

The iPASOLINK 100E indoor unit can be installed in one half of a 19-inch telecommunications rack or on a desktop within the limited space of IT facilities. It provides the same high-class radio performance customers know from other products in the iPASOLINK portfolio in 6-42GHz frequencies. The fan-less natural cooling system consumes 55% less power compared to other conventional microwave products. iPASOLINK 100E is also fully compatible with other iPASOLINK products, allowing quick and simple network expansion for operators who have already deployed NEC’s latest generation of microwave products.

“This latest addition to our portfolio will match our customers’ continuing need for the fast provision of services with environmentally friendly solutions that bring a reduction in total cost of ownership,” said Hiroya Nakata, Vice President and General Manager at NEC Corporation. “NEC provides an unparalleled breadth of microwave solutions and the new iPASOLINK 100E, with NEC’s outstanding reliability and simple installation, will deliver unmatched value to network operators.”

The iPASOLINK series is the next generation of PASOLINK products. Since the launch of PASOLINK in the early 1980s, communications networks have dramatically grown and evolved. During that time, the system has been widely adopted as a solution for microwave transmission with shipments of approximately 2 million units throughout 147 countries.
