Joining cloud and colocation firm UKFast after seven years spent as a teacher at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester, Aaron Saxton is set to bring apprenticeships to the firm for the first time.
In addition to building UKFast’s Academy and Apprenticeship programme, Saxton will also focus on strengthening ties between the £20 million turnover business and the education sector in a community and commercial capacity.
Saxton worked closely with UKFast during his time at Ashton on Mersey, developing the National IT Diploma, online learning environments and strengthening links between the school and local businesses.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones said: “What Aaron has done for education on this side of Manchester and Trafford considering his age is unprecedented. He has changed the face of online learning and I hope that the work he has done will be carried on for years to come.
“He is the driving force behind our new training and educational programme which will ensure that as we continue to expand at a rapid rate, our team is ahead of the curve in terms of industry and technological knowledge.”
Saxton moves to UKFast after seven years at Ashton on Mersey, where, within four years of qualifying, he progressed to management level. He said: “I have had a wonderful seven years at Ashton on Mersey and feel that now is the perfect time to move on.
“UKFast poses a new challenge to revolutionise training in the workplace and to bring young, talented people into the company and train them up into ambassadors for the technology industry. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Jones continued: “Appointing Aaron wasn’t a difficult decision because I am a great believer in extraordinary characters and Aaron is just that. Whilst it is tremendously upsetting that we are taking Aaron from the educational arena, he had already made that choice and we know UKFast is the perfect place for him. He’ll continue to influence future generations through UKFast’s education initiatives.”
