New Safari rugged pocket PC from Mobexx

Mobexx has announced a new customisable pocket size computer. The 2T Safari weighs less than 400 gm and the rugged IP65-rated hand held computer is only slightly larger than a palmtop and yet offers greater computing power, wider connectivity and an optional 40-hour battery. Built to last and easy to customise, the Safari will operate in all kinds of working conditions and provide reliable performance and an excellent return on investment.

The Safari features a heat and chemical resistant case, a transflective TFT colour display, audio (.WAV) feedback, WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS, GPRS, and integrated 1D bar code scanning. The hand held can be equipped with either a 26 key or a 41 key alpha numeric keypad providing seamless integration into a wide variety of applications. Customised keypads are available for specific applications, making the hand held very intuitive to use in any situation.

This powerful computer features 128 MB SRAM, 128 MB internal FLASH, as well as a user accessible SD card slot for additional mass storage. The hand held uses Microsoft Windows CE .NET 5.0 operating system and is equipped with a low battery power consuming Marvell PXA270 processor operating at 520 MHz. The Safari is also equipped with an expansion port for adding RFID, 2D bar code reading, GPS, as well as other industry or application specific modules.

With its rugged design and wide array of available features, the Safari is suitable for law enforcement, meter reading, field service, traffic management, agriculture, environmental testing, security, medical and hospitality markets.
