Telecoms distributor Nimans is extending its service offering by providing dealers with installation and maintenance facilities for Avaya communications equipment – on a joint or independent basis.
The company’s Avaya Business Manager Tim Freeth explained: “Nimans is providing a value added service to the dealer which aims to complement their existing activities. We recognise that many have their own engineers but we want to provide additional support and offer greater choice. In terms of maintenance we can offer 24/7 cover when some of our business partners just do not have the staff to provide that sort of service.”
Freeth feels the installation opportunities will be particularly beneficial for dealers whose clients have multi-site locations across the country – complementing around-the-clock maintenance cover which is available 365 days of the year.
“Some dealers, particularly those that are just starting off may not have the technical expertise to install, whilst others may feel isolated if they have a customer site in London and another in Glasgow. They may not have the infrastructure in place to tackle that type of project.”

Meanwhile Nimans say they are the first distributor in the country to offer dealers a dedicated back-up power unit for Avaya systems. The new Avaya 500 -1500 VA rackmount UPS is the ideal secondary power solution for small-to-medium-size businesses and branch offices, explained Tim.
