Nimans Prime the Lync Pump

Nimans’ resellers have been learning how to unleash the power of Microsoft Lync at a training workshop that inspired them to move with the times and banish any ‘prehistoric’ viewpoints.

Held in partnership with hosted communications and Software as a Service (SaaS) specialist SIPCOM, resellers discovered how to unlock growing market opportunities – capitalising on Lync’s powerful Unified Comms capabilities where built-in Enterprise Voice functionality provides a potential PBX rival.

The half-day event attracted dozens of resellers from as far as Mid Wales and Lancaster – with the vast majority having no previous experience of selling Lync – technology successfully deployed internally at Nimans to increase productivity and performance.

A live demonstration, how to position and how to sell the intuitive UC platform were all on the agenda as resellers discovered how the whole proposition ‘fits together’ – also learning about the importance of high quality end points such as UC optimised headsets, handsets and conferencing equipment.

One Mid Wales-based reseller confirmed afterwards: “We use Lync ourselves and are in the process of selling it. Differentiation was the big thing about today for me. In my head I had hosted confused with Lync, confused with other ways of connectivity. I was looking to separate them out and this workshop has gone a long way to achieving that. Lync is for the new world where you have people working from home, from the car and a traditional office. The more we understand about it the more easily we can sell it. I’m leaving here with a more defined vision for the future.”

Another dealer, from Cheshire, said the workshop helped shake-off his ‘prehistoric’ mindset. “I’d heard a lot about Lync but hadn’t directly got involved before. I got a good overview and found the workshop very informative about where Lync is positioned in the marketplace and how it can fit into our portfolio. We are definitely bringing it on board. How successful it will be is ultimately down to our customers. It’s a valuable addition, a new weapon. It’s a mindset shift for me. I’m nearly 50 and there’s a new generation coming through that want an alternative to the deskphone, based on the flexibility of instant messaging and more modern ways of communicating. Just because I am a dinosaur I’ve got to move with the times and deliver what a certain sector of the market wants. It’s a no brainer and being able to access this technology from Nimans, along with my other products and services, is so easy and convenient. Lync is another essential piece of the jigsaw.”

Nimans’ new ‘On boarding Process’, a comprehensive step-by step guide spanning commercials, tech support and set-up, was also presented, as resellers heard how adopting Lync can significantly increase margins, create multiple revenue streams and more ‘sticky’ or loyal customers. A free 30 day trial is available as a risk-free introduction.

Nimans’ Head of Networks, Mark Curtis-Wood, said the event, at the company’s Manchester headquarters, was a resounding success. “We joined forces with SIPCOM last year, one of Microsoft’s key service providers across North America and EMEA. This enables our customers to access a powerful network, stretching around the world, to take advantage of hosted unified communications and capitalise on the impressive revenue potential that exists. We wanted to de-mystify Lync, clear-up any confusion and show resellers how they can gain a competitive market advantage by teaming up with Nimans and SIPCOM, based on complete end-to-end integration.”
