Node4 Shine Through the Recession

In the midst of all of the doom and gloom in this economic downturn that is affecting most of the country; colocation and managed hosting providers Node4 are shining through with a whole host of business expansions and developments.

Node4’s biggest expansion to date is the company’s brand new Data Centre, DC3, which is currently under development in Wakefield, due to open in April later this year. DC3 continues with, and also improves on, the high standards Node4 already have in their hugely successful existing data centres in Derby. Actions have been taken throughout the planning process to make the data centre as environmentally friendly as possible. Ultima Compact Freecool air conditioning units from Airedale International have been chosen to ensure that sound and vibrations are kept to a minimum, which in turn maximises the energy efficiency of the units without compromising the capacity. The free cooling technology allows the units to run even more efficiently once below the ambient temperature of 16°C, thus significantly reducing the energy consumption and carbon emissions of the air conditioning units.

Andrew Gilbert, MD at Node4 enthuses; “2009 is set to be an exciting and prosperous year for us at Node4 with the current data centre development which is also leading to us expanding our sales and technical teams even further.”

Node4 have recently employed a total of five new members of technical staff, expanding the support team dramatically. This is in response to a rise in demand for technical services the company has seen. Four new members of 1st line technical support and one new Senior Network Engineer, Pete Weighand who will be based at the new Wakefield Data Centre from April. Pete joined Node4 in October of last year following roles with BT Global Services and Capgemini as a Network Consultant.

“I had watched Node4’s progress and expansion for some time and then last year I was approached by an ex-colleague who now works for Node4. He suggested that I come for an interview and overview of the Wakefield Data Centre that is currently being built. I quickly realised that Node4 was the place to be to expand my knowledge and contribute to the next phase of the company expansion. I consider myself fortunate that the role of Senior Network Engineer presented itself with an ambitious company,” commented Weighand.
