Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, President and CEO of Nokia was among today’s winners of the 2008 European Business Awards. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Intercontinental Grand Hotel Paris, in front of an audience of European business leaders, politicians and press.
Former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar presented The Business Leader of the Year Award to Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, President and CEO of Nokia.
Mr Kallasvuo took over the helm at the Finnish telecommunications giant two years ago, at a time when technology convergence and major new entrants made his role potentially very difficult.
However, by pushing the business more aggressively into new markets, and continuing to drive innovation, he has delivered exceptionally, adding €10 billion to revenues and increasing net profits by 67 per cent.
