As it works toward manufacturing and deployment goals for year-end 2008 and 2009 launch periods, Nokia Siemens Networks is nearing certification and interoperability milestones. The WiMAX Forum certification process for both the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz profiles of the industry-leading Flexi WiMAX Base Station is under way.
Nokia Siemens Networks has over 20 WiMAX references including fixed and mobile WiMAX and is a partner of the world’s largest WiMAX operators. The most recent new mobile WiMAX customers have been secured in the past two months. Additionally, the company also expects its first mobile WiMAX customers to start commercial operations within this year.
To ensure an optimal user experience from both networks and devices, the company has performed interoperability (IOT) testing with a significant number of major terminal and chipset vendors for 2.5 GHz and also is testing with 3.5 GHz terminals. In network interoperability testing, Nokia Siemens Networks is working to ensure radio network interoperability with several WiMAX core network infrastructure vendors.
