Nortel Nab Avaya Services Pair

The exodus from Avaya to Nortel continued yesterday with the announcement that two more key executives had joined the Canadian vendor. Comms Business Magazine believes that Moreno Ciboldi, Nortel's recently appointed ex-Avaya VP of Sales for EMEA may be behind the spate of moves and could be settling 'old scores'.

Speaking to Comms Business Magazine in September at the time of his appointment at Nortel , Ciboldi said, “My role at Nortel is far wider than the SMB and channel I looked after at Avaya. I have already taken steps to recruit a number of key personnel to further boost our presence in the market and the team will be very strong.”

The new recruits are: Urban Hofstrom who is to lead Nortel EMEA Services and Dave Millett is to direct Nortel EMEA Services Business Development & Marketing

20-year service industry expert Urban Hofstrom will be responsible for driving profitable growth across EMEA in the newly formed Global Services enterprise. Hofstrom brings to Nortel unique experience across all fields of the service business and he will focus on delivering significant value to Nortel customers.

Hofstrom joined Nortel from Avaya where he was most recently VP of EMEA Services and was responsible for the transformation of the Avaya service business following the acquisition of Tenovis. Hofstrom also held senior services positions at Swisslog Management AG, ABB Automation, Digital Equipment Ltd. and with GE’s Consumer and Industrial Business. Hofstrom holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from Stockholm Technical Institute, Sweden.

Dave Millett has been appointed as Nortel’s Director, Business Development & Marketing for EMEA Services. Millet has over 25 year’s telecommunications industry experience with an emphasis on services. In his new role, Millett will develop Nortel’s EMEA services portfolio roadmap and deliver marketing programmes that improve revenue growth.

Millett comes to Nortel from Avaya where he was most recently Business Development Director of EMEA Services. Prior to this, he was Director of Strategy and Planning for Avaya UK. Millett also worked as Customer Services Director for Siemens and as an accountant at BT. Millett holds an MBA from Henley Management College, UK.
