Nortel to Recruit More Sales Heads

Speaking exclusively to Comms Business Magazine this week, Mario DiMascio, the recently appointed Nortel UK VP for Direct Touch Enterprise Sales, said that his company was recruiting 75 sales heads in Europe including 25 to be based in the UK.

DiMascio, who previously worked for 3Com, said,”Nortel’s strengths lie in IP Telephony and call centre applications; we have for example 30% market share in interactive voice response systems in the UK and many high profile reference sites. We aim to increase the draw from the channel and are focusing our business in sectors such as Government, finance and media & publishing.”

“Two recent wins for Nortel included St Thomas’ Hospital where we demonstrated the return on investment for our IVR solution and Crimestoppers which includes Nortel Communication Server 1000 IP telephony system to support business-critical applications, Nortel’s contact centre technology and CallPilot Unified Messaging, as well as Nortel Ethernet Routing Switches 8600 and Nortel Ethernet Switches 460 for a powerful LAN infrastructure.”

Crimestoppers UK, a registered charity supporting local police and the community in resolving crimes, has deployed a Nortel converged voice and data network at its new Godstone contact centre. The new converged voice and data network will allow Crimestoppers to respond quickly and efficiently to its increasing call volume while also maintaining full anonymity for people providing vital crime information to the agency.

“Crimestoppers strives to be an effective crime-solving tool for the UK and the implementation of Nortel’s technology at our newly opened site is critical to achieving this objective,” said Dave Cording, Director of Operations at Crimestoppers. “We chose Nortel because of its proven track record in delivering the latest technology, cost effectively. With Nortel, we were confident that Crimestoppers would be equipped with the best communication system, specifically designed to support our crime fighting services.”

DiMascio concluded, “Highly secure, very reliable and resilient communications are key to Crimestoppers ability to guarantee a fully functional 24/7 operational readiness. We are pleased that Nortel technology was chosen to support the great work Crimestoppers is doing.”
