NTE are preferred suppliers for both the WHO and United Nations but fended off strong international competition to win the contract. Ron Elliott, NTE’s Managing Director said “I am proud that a small firm from Durham is able to take on the best in the World and win”.
This success is the most recent in a string of international successes which has seen NTE successfully export conference systems to Kenya, Portugal, Czech Republic and the West Indies since September 2008.
Ron Elliott and conference specialist Alan Simpson will personally travel out to Brazzaville to install and commission the systems over 4 weeks later this year. The largest system has 180 microphones, is capable of carrying up to 32 different languages distributed by Infrared wireless technology to over 300 delegates. The design incorporates automatic camera control with images of any speaker presented onto large screens within the auditorium which can be exported to the Internet for Web casting. The conference system will be invaluable in the international conferences held by the organisation at the African regional headquarters.
The WHO order is worth over 275,000 USD and is an important win for the company in weakened economic conditions. “Sales of traditional and VoIP communications systems to the private sector in the UK have fallen dramatically over the last 12 months and large conference system orders to niche markets such as this help to protect the jobs of the 27 employees based at the company’s headquarters at Peterlee”.
NTE are planning to expand the conferencing system branch of the business by applying for more UK National and Local Government based tenders. NTE’s experiences working for international organisations such as the WHO, United Nations and the British Army must boost their chances of success in bidding for domestic contracts.
