O2 puts free wifi on the menu at Cafe Rouge, Strada and Bella Italia

O2 today announces it has signed an agreement to provide Tragus restaurants with its market changing wifi service, which is free for both O2 and non-O2 mobile customers. The deal is the first O2 Wifi has struck with a restaurant chain and will see hotspots rolled out initially in over 120 renowned restaurants across the UK including Cafe Rouge, and selected Strada and Bella Italia Restaurants.

The contract builds on O2’s partnership with Tragus to offer exclusive discounts to O2 customers through Priority Moments – O2’s location-based offers service that gives exclusive discounts and experiences with some of the UK’s best loved shops restaurants and leisure providers.

Current offers include two courses plus wine for £12 across Café Rouge, Strada and Bella Italia. By combining O2 Wifi and Priority Moments, O2 will be able to deliver an enhanced mobile user experience that gives customers discounts at the restaurants they are closest to and a free wifi connection while dining.

By partnering with O2 Wifi, Tragus will be able to offer a fast, free, reliable and simple to use wifi connection to all its customers, no matter which mobile or broadband provider they are with, addressing many shortcomings of current public wifi offerings. The deal also gives Tragus a platform to further enhance the customer experience through branded landing pages and content, providing relevant and timely offers and rewarding loyalty.

O2’s premium wifi hotspots are managed through partnerships with key venue owners. Access to the hotspots is made through a simple sign-up process and is free to both O2 and non-O2 mobile customers, providing seamless connectivity to a high quality network.

This investment will allow O2 to offer customers access to a suite of layered technologies, including 2G, EDGE, 3G, 4G, HSPA+ and wifi, seamlessly, simply and at speed.
