OnApp named in Red Herring’s 2012 Top 100 Europe award

OnApp has been chosen for Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe award, which identifies the most innovative, unique and promising start-up companies in Europe. OnApp has developed a unique federated cloud and CDN platform that enables service providers to out-compete and out-innovate the dominant players in the cloud and CDN markets – Amazon and Akamai. The Top 100 award winners were selected from a pool of hundreds of European companies.

Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across Europe to the Top 100 Winners. We believe OnApp embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. OnApp should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was the strongest it has ever been.”

“Being in the Red Herring Top 100 is great recognition of what we’re achieving at OnApp,” said Ditlev Bredahl, OnApp’s CEO. “The future of cloud is federated, and our common platform and marketplace already enables more than 400 service providers to pool their resources and compete with the likes of Amazon and Akamai, without having to invest millions in their own global infrastructure. This benefits cloud end users too, as they get more choice of supplier, pricing, apps and SLAs, and can work with a local provider while still achieving global scale.”
