Onestream appoints James Carr to oversee national expansion

Hampshire-based independent ISP Onestream, has announced the appointment of James Carr as the organisation’s new CEO. Carr was previously Chief Operating Officer at Mobile Phones Direct, the UK’s largest online mobile phone retailer.

During his seven years with MPD, Carr contributed to the company’s considerable success, overseeing, sales, marketing, operations and digital development. Carr was instrumental in the sale of MPD to AO World for a reported £38.1 million, after which he was retained by AO World to help oversee the integration of its acquisition.

His appointment is the first of several planned high-level hires for Onestream as it readies itself for future growth. Having completed four base acquisitions during 2019, Onestream now supplies broadband and telecoms to over 20,000 UK domestic customers.

Current Onestream MD, Roy Abbott, stays with the business in the newly created role of M & A Director, overseeing further acquisitions, which remains a fundamental part of Onestream’s growth strategy.

Carr commented, “Onestream has its sights set firmly on becoming the UK’s largest independent ISP, which, whilst ambitious, is totally achievable. I’m looking forward to working with the Onestream management team to create a strong, customer-focussed business we can be well and truly proud of.”
