Opal launches new IPVPN proposition

Networks & Network Services
Opal, the provider of next generation communication technologies for the channel, has launched IPVPN, a next generation wide area network (WAN) solution for multisite businesses.

Offering secure, private networking across Opal’s resilient £200 million next generation network, Opal’s IPVPN solution is available fully managed (Reseller IPVPN), with design and project managed implementation and ongoing management of the WAN, or a ‘raw components’ offering (Wholesale IPVPN), enabling the wholesaler to create and deliver their own unique solution and manage the end users wide area network.

IPVPN connects multiple sites across Opal’s high performance, private MPLS core. Offering a choice of connectivity options ranging from ADSL to high speed Ethernet, this future-proofed NGN solution provides the end user customer with secure networking, bandwidth and resilience to ensure maximum operational efficiency. IPVPN provides the opportunity for a business to review their operational processes and improve ICT access for employees, with the option to host servers in the WAN cloud.

Centralised internet access from Opal’s core network can significantly reduce a HQ site’ bandwidth requirements, whilst speeding up reaction times and improving efficiency.

Opal’s Reseller IPVPN offers a solution for partners that do not have the operational or technical resource to design and implement this complex solution. Designed and fully project managed by Opal, features include high speed internet access with managed firewall options, access to near-real time online performance reporting via the Opal portal and the use of three classes of service (QOS) to differentiate and prioritise critical and time sensitive data traffic.

For Partners who want to add value and support to their existing solutions, Opal’s Wholesale IPVPN offers them the option to take part of the product portfolio and to combine it with their existing products. Opal’s Wholesale IPVPN offers these Partners access to a future proof technology to build their own end-user solutions.

Andrew Hollingworth, Director of Wholesale at Opal, said: “We are absolutely committed to developing innovative solutions for the channel and our IPVPN propositions offer flexibility for both the partner and end user. Opal’s IPVPN negates the need for multiple circuit types and suppliers, reducing capex and opex costs.

“Not only is working with a single supplier more cost-effective and convenient to manage, but for our channel partners, it is also a way to ensure ‘stickiness’ with their customer base; securing repeat business through long-term contractual agreements - and most importantly driving up margin.”
