Openreach, the division of BT which delivers installation and maintenance services on behalf of Britain’s telephone and internet service providers, today announced the appointment of Ian Wheeler as WLR3 Implementation Programme Director with immediate effect. Wheeler will take responsibility for delivery and implementation of the WLR3 Wholesale Line Rental product, from service and operational delivery through customer service and systems development to the impact on people and culture.
Openreach’s Wholesale Line Rental product enables UK Communications Providers to offer their own-branded telephony services over the Openreach network, and forms a key part of the company’s portfolio.
Wheeler previously worked for BT’s One IT division, holding the post of Director of Integration & Systems in Openreach’s CIO function, delivering the systems transformations agreed under the Telecommunications Strategic Review. He previously held a range of senior programme management roles for Centrica, Gridcom UK and Marks and Spencer.
