Orange has launched Sound of Orange RockCorps, a new application where users can create their own versions of the latest music tracks.

The Sound of Orange RockCorps is a social music experience that allows people to create remixes of well known tracks using their own voice, and sounds produced by their friends. The new application enables users to record their own singing through their PC microphone or mobile phone. People can create their own unique music or connect with friends through Facebook to create a joint track.

Created by digital agency Poke, The Sound of Orange RockCorps will be updated every month to include new tracks and a top performance section where the best tracks will be showcased. The site also features a blog, a video all about The Sound of Orange RockCorps and useful tips about how to record the best sounds.

Users are able to invite friends to make music with them through Facebook and updates will appear in the Facebook newsfeed. It is also possible to post a link to your own remixes on blogs and websites.

The aim is for the new application to increase awareness of Orange RockCorps, the music-led volunteer programme which provides a way for young people to experience the value of giving something back to their local community. The programme inspires young people to volunteer within their local community to earn a concert ticket in return.

Spencer McHugh, brand director at Orange UK, said: “The Sound of Orange RockCorps is about encouraging friends to have fun making music together. Hopefully the new application will also help to increase awareness of the Orange RockCorps programme resulting in more volunteers helping their local communities.”
