Palmer in Palmer Sports Day

The late summer sunshine added to the enjoyment when Nine Telecom Group hosted 40 guests and staff at their Palmer Day on 21st September, based at the Bedford Autodrome, the home of the Jonathan Palmer Race School.

The prizes for the best time in the nine individual events were shared across a number of drivers, but standing on the top level of the podium at the end of the day was Nick Webster from Nine Club, with Darren Weston from Weston Group in second place and James Palmer, CEO at Nine Telecom Group, third.

Competition was fierce all day and Dean Burgin of Blue Cherry commented, “Although I do feel robbed - thanks! I had a absolute blast and next year will be my year.” Robert Isherwood Crook of Suzugia joined in, “I looked at the videos this morning and thought “if only I had done that, then I would have won every prize going. Now starts the process of assuring my place next year together with a fitness program to be able to tackle cars without power steering.”

The day witnessed several performances of note, including: Brendan “grass mower” Mullins the Karting genius who only managed two complete laps without mowing the surrounding fields and Matt “pirouette” Lambert who dough-nutted everywhere in the Caterham pursuit, apart from the circle he was supposed to do the doughnut in! Everyone had a fantastic time, including Terry Ambrose from Trust Distribution who added, “Just to say a big thank you for yesterday, the day was fantastic and the Nine people were very friendly without exception. Those single seater Jags were something else.”

The race school staff ensured that all the drivers had an unforgettable experience and Matthew Lambert, MD of Nine Telecom said “What a truly remarkable day and without doubt the best corporate hospitality day I have ever been on. From the 1st lap in the Caterham to the last lap in the Jaguar JP1, it could not have been a better day and to be able to share it with our dedicated staff and top performing partners, made it a day to remember. Great results equal great rewards and following our best year ever at Nine Telecom, bring on 2011.”

So with the final thought on the day, James Palmer CEO Nine Telecom Group said “What can I say, a brilliant day, organised to perfection by the team at Palmersport. Some great driving, some not so great driving, but a great day enjoyed by all. Can’t wait for next years event already!”
