PEER 1 Hosting doubles colocation footprint in Portsmouth

Demand for mission critical hosting infrastructure drives expansion

PEER 1 Hosting, the global online IT hosting provider, is today announcing that it has doubled its colocation space in its data centre in Portsmouth. The move is in response to demand from businesses in London and the South looking for a world-class data centre and network for their mission-critical hosting solutions to operate on.

In addition to being in one of the most efficient data centres in the UK, with a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.1, servers in the PEER 1 Hosting data centre has access to 10Gbps backbone connectivity through its FastFiber Network™. The site is located just off the A3(M) and near to Havant station, allowing easy access to businesses in London, whilst also enabling PEER 1 Hosting to pass on the cost saving benefits of being based outside the capital.

“As a systems integrator, providing information infrastructure to global enterprise companies and local specialist businesses, selecting the right colocation space was a vitally important decision for our business. There really is no margin for error as the majority of our clients have mission and revenue-critical applications,” says Ian Parslow, Vice President Sales for MTI, a long-term colocation customer for PEER 1 Hosting UK.

“We had an extensive shopping list and tight margins to consider. It was essential that we could provide our customers with a hosting solution that included a great network, ensuring optimised performance, state-of-the-art security and easy access for businesses in London and the South. After extensive research we found that no other hosting company could offer us the same combination of expertise, service, technology and efficiencies as PEER 1 Hosting.”

Dominic Monkhouse, EMEA Managing Director, at PEER 1 Hosting comments, “When we built our datacentre in 2011, we specifically set out to ensure that it addressed the gap in the market for a solution that provided optimised, uncompromised performance as well as flexibility and value. Our strategy is to ensure that customers get a hosting solution that is second to none, whilst respecting the fact that they need this to be delivered conveniently and efficiently. The response from the market has supported this strategy and our increased capacity will allow us to accommodate more colocation customers who have hosting requirements that are essential to their business success.”

The additional colocation space in PEER 1 Hosting’s data centre will also provide customers with multiple redundancies in security, power, cooling and networking to mitigate the impact of natural or man-made disasters. Data centre engineers, network engineers and an in-house 24/7/365 network operations centre are also on hand to provide support and to drive efficiencies for customers. Colocation space is available in quarter cabinets, half cabinets, full cabinets pods and customisable cages, enabling customers to grow without constraints and without charges for upgrades or expansions.
