Pennine Telecom to help Bury Light Night shine again

Community minded Pennine Telecom is backing Bury Light Night which is returning to shine next month after wowing over 22,000 visitors last year.

The company has agreed to sponsor the event and will provide 30 two-way radios to ensure its smooth running and safety. Bury Light Night sees the town centre transformed with illuminations, art installations, live music, theatre and stalls. It is designed to foster a community spirit and will see many local people taking part and volunteering.

Among attractions at last year’s free event were acclaimed live acts such as Liz Green and Louis Barabbas who went on to entertain crowds at this year’s Ramsbottom Festival. Organisers say this year’s line-up will offer even more variety and drama, with live music, performance, intriguing art installations, workshops, bustling markets and family entertainment.

Bury Light Night Project Manager Diana Hamilton thanked the company for its support, saying: “This is very much a community led project and one that relies on the goodwill and generosity of public spirited organisations like Pennine Telecom. Without sponsorship an event like this, which really captures the public’s imagination and affection, simply would not happen. We are very grateful to Pennine for their support.”

The sponsorship is the latest in a series of commitments made by Pennine in support of its home town and local communities. Only last month the company announced it was backing the East Lancashire Railway with a £15,000 sponsorship deal and in July supported both the International Youth Sports Festival and Olympic Torch Relay.
