Under the terms of the agreement, all Freestone Communications’ service support staff, including workshop specialists and field service engineers, will move across to Pericom, which is based in Cosgrove, Milton Keynes. This gives Pericom the ability to offer a wider range of printer and fax maintenance services including an expert workshop repair facility to facilitate a back-to-base repair service with full availability of loan machines on a nationwide basis. Local customers will continue to receive the same high level of service to which they have become accustomed.
Commenting on this expansion, Terry Wilkins, Managing Director of Pericom, said: “This is the first in a series of strategic acquisitions that will strengthen the service side of the business and help us to build the company into one of the UK’s leading providers of IT support services.”
Pericom is ramping up its existing service operation to meet the needs of all customers whether they have ongoing maintenance contracts or prefer to operate on an ad hoc basis. It is currently implementing the latest remote monitoring technology that gives early warnings of impending problems enabling them to be quickly resolved. This will play a key role in maintaining network uptime and enabling organisations to meet all corporate governance requirements.

Pericom will also be exploring opportunities to build on the sales of consumables to customers of both Pericom and Freestone Communications.
