Polycom has announced a strategic partnership with Preferred One Stop Technologies (POSTcti) which will enable them to promote Polycom’s CX5000 solution.
Since 1997, POSTcti has been providing VARs and Systems Integrators with a single convenient source for converged communication technology building blocks. It supplies the latest technology from market-leading manufacturers, and bespoke implementation to maximise investment, all backed by ongoing product support.
As announced on March 30th Polycom has licensed the right to distribute Microsoft RoundTable, effective April 13, 2009. The product will be renamed the Polycom® CX5000 Unified Conference Station. Originally launched by Microsoft in October 2007, the CX5000 is a plug-and-play device that connects to a PC through a USB connection, so no extra provisioning or configuration is needed – any user can walk into a conference room, plug in a laptop, and start a meeting.
The CX5000 is designed for enterprises that use Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 or Office Communications Server 2007 and want a simple way to add audio and visual communication to an Office Live Meeting or Office Communications Server 2007 session. When used with Office Live Meeting service, or as part of Office Communications Server 2007, the CX5000 combines content, a panoramic 360-degree view of the entire meeting room, and a separate view of the active speaker for a unique and engaging voice and video experience.
POSTcti’s advanced technical knowledge and capabilities around the Microsoft Unified Communications Suite is helping UK companies to overcome many of the challenges globalisation presents around fragmented supply chain, corporate social responsibility, escalating customer demand and effective mobilisation of the workforce.
“Utilising a roundtable device really adds to the video conference experience if one of the locations has multiple participants,” said Martin Oliver, BBC WorldWide. “Set-up is really simple being plug and play so you can be up and running in a matter of minutes.”
“We have made a firm commitment to Polycom in anticipation of the increasingly sharp rate of adoption this product is experiencing in the market place, largely driven by the wider scale adoption of the Microsoft Unified Communications Portfolio,” said Neil May, MD, POSTcti. “The CX5000 is highly regarded as an essential component within many of the collaborative solutions provided to our clients in support of their ongoing business transformation and smarter ways of working programmes.”
“POSTcti is renowned for its expertise implementing technology around Microsoft’s Unified Communications suite, so partnering with them was an obvious choice for us,” said Paul Louden, UK MD, Polycom. “We’ve seen more and more companies invest in voice and video conferencing solutions during the recession as a way to cut down on travel costs without forsaking face to face meetings.”
