Polycom Delivers High Definition CX100 Speakerphone

Unified collaborative solutions vendor Polycom has announced the availability of the CX100 Speakerphone, a portable Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 endpoint which they say offers significantly better call quality than speakerphones through traditional business desk phones.

The Polycom CX100 Speakerphone gives users the ultimate hands-free calling experience with Office Communicator 2007. Office Communicator 2007 is a unified communications desktop client that helps people communicate easily with others in different locations using a range of different communication options including instant messaging; voice, and video calling. Polycom’s portable CX100 Speakerphone delivers crystal-clear, natural conversations without echoes or feedback and is the ideal solution for people on the road. The speakerphone frees users from the need to wear a headset for PC-based calling but also allows a stereo headphone to be plugged into the CX100’s port for private conversations.

“By teaming with companies like Polycom and Microsoft, HP can offer customers exciting new end-to-end communication solutions,” said Robb Rasmussen, vice president, HP Services. “HP Services’ leadership can help customers combine Polycom’s endpoints with Microsoft’s Office Communications Server 2007, resulting in breakthrough audio quality and flexibility in communications systems.”

The Polycom CX100 Speakerphone is a truly portable peripheral device for Office Communicator 2007 that connects via USB port to a laptop or desktop PC without the need to install additional drivers. The CX100 enables hands-free, high fidelity, high definition audio and greater group collaboration via robust, ad hoc conference calls that can be initiated from a laptop located in any conference room, office, or remote location – literally anywhere that Office Communicator 2007 can be used.

“Polycom’s CX100 Speakerphone offers road warriors and remote workers the same high quality communications Polycom is known for with its conferencing and desktop phones, but with the added flexibility to host a call from anywhere a person is working,” said Sunil Bhalla, Polycom senior vice president and general manager of Voice Communications. “Polycom delivers a secure, reliable and superior voice experience to end users, and we’re delighted to team with Microsoft to offer top-quality endpoints to our joint customers.”
