Polycom launches Wireless-Office-in-a-Box for SMBs

Polycom, the video, and voice communications solutions provider, has launched its ‘wireless office in a box’ solution, enabling they say, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to deploy wireless voice more cost-effectively than ever before.

The Wireless-Office-in-a-Box consists of three KIRK 2010 digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT) handsets and a KIRK Wireless Server (KWS) 300. The company says that by offering this affordable, easy-to-deploy wireless solution, Polycom is helping its SMB customers realise the benefits of enterprise-grade wireless voice without any costly overhead or complex management and administration requirements.

“As lower-cost handsets enter the market, we’re seeing increased uptake of DECT solutions within SMBs,” said Peter Hale, senior analyst at MZA. “By introducing its KIRK Wireless-Office-in-a-Box solution, Polycom offers a high-quality system that is easy to deploy, competitively priced and designed to specifically address the needs of SMBs.”

The Wireless-Office-in-a-Box also includes the KWS 300, a SIP-based wireless telephony system that is ideal for smaller sized businesses. The KWS 300 is a single-cell system that can support up to 12 handsets and four simultaneous calls. A total of six KIRK repeaters can be added to extend the coverage area.

“We are committed to meet the wireless telephony needs for customers of all sizes, and we understand that one size does not fit all,” said Sten Dyrmose, general manager for Polycom’s DECT business unit. “In the SMB space, we identified the need for a cost-effective system that is easy to deploy, competitively priced and designed to fit the needs of a smaller-sized business. The Wireless Office in a Box can be tailored to each customer, so they aren’t paying for more than they want or need.”
