PSU Secures £2m Cloud Computing Contract

Reseller PSU Technology Group (PSU), has been awarded another key IT and Telephony contract, its third in as many months in the area of cloud computing.

The latest deal, worth around £2 million, will see PSU provide an IT and Telephony managed services infrastructure to Ringway Jacobs. This will be integral to their new Highways and Transportation contract for Essex County Council, worth up to £1 billion and to be known as ‘Essex Highways’. In support of the contract, PSU is also developing Ringway Jacob’s online presence, through a number of bespoke web based software projects.

The core of the IT and telephony infrastructure is based ‘in the cloud’, and hosted in an ultra-modern data centre, making it highly scalable and future proofed to support a workforce of 500 users across multiple locations.

Utilising software from Citrix and VMware running on virtualised vPlatform servers, the IT solution will distribute a suite of Microsoft products, as well as various CRM systems, finance and highways-related software applications. The telephony solution is a hybrid blend of traditional on-site hardware and a virtualised system based on robust and proven Mitel technology, as favoured by many local government authorities.

Commenting about the latest deal, Michael Lounton, PSU’s Managing Director, said; “We are thrilled to be working with Ringway Jacobs on one of the UK’s largest highways projects. The IT & telecoms cloud solution is of strategic importance to the Essex Highways contract and to be part of it gives everyone at PSU great satisfaction. It is also exciting that after several years of strategically shaping PSU into a unified service provider, that in this contract PSU is supplying its full range of services. We are delighted that Ringway Jacobs is now experiencing the benefits of working with a single provider that can deliver and support all of their technology requirements.”
