ramsac celebrates its 20th Anniversary

ramsac, the IT solutions consultancy based in Surrey is celebrating two decades of offering what they describe as straightforward, hassle-free business technology support. The company, which prides itself on ‘Making IT simple’, was incorporated on 17th March 1992 by Robert May and Sally Cooper and took the initials of both founders to create the ramsac name.

Robert May, Managing Director of ramsac comments, “Twenty years ago we recognised the growing importance of IT to the business world, so we formed the company to make the whole process much easier for companies to take full advantage of. With an initial team of just two people, we were originally supporting four client companies’ IT needs. With continuous self-supported growth ever since, we now support over 4,000 end users, providing over 21,000 hours of remote technical assistance a year, and over 10,000 hours of onsite technical consultancy - responding to over 18,500 support requests per year via our dedicated remote helpdesk based in Surrey. Despite this growth, at the heart of the company we are still committed to offering IT support that demystifies and makes IT simple.”

ramsac continues to concentrate on offering the quality of support that has built and maintained its reputation. Currently it has a 35-strong technical team that last year helped 146 organisations create and implement their IT strategies, but the team also spent 120 days in accredited technical training in order to keep up to date with the latest industry developments. The company was recently named in the top 20 Managed IT Service Providers in EMEA. ramsac is positioned 17th in the MSPmentor 50 World’s Top Managed Services Providers (EMEA region) for 2012, alongside organisations from South Africa, Norway, France, Germany and The Netherlands.

As well as offering strategic advice and hands-on remote and onsite IT support, ramsac has constantly evolved to offer services that complement and engage with the latest developments in the IT industry. Recent additions to this include the launch of a their Cloud Offerings and also a Unified Communications business unit, which offers advice, installation and support that enables businesses to join up their IT and telephones systems to give greater control and flexibility in dealing with call traffic. In reflection of its expert knowledge ramsac has launched an IT Mentoring service which is designed to offer guidance, support and advice for IT teams and managers that require specialised help. ramsac’s 24 hour Support offering is designed to give full cover for all key IT services, seven days a week and the company launched its Apple Business Unit last year (following accreditation by the Apple Consultants Network) which has moved it firmly into the rapidly burgeoning Apple Mac business sector in parallel with its on-going PC expertise.

ramsac has always aimed to give something back to the business and wider community that has supported it throughout its first two decades. The company has hosted 836 delegates at free technical seminars and briefings last year and has an on-going Apprentice Scheme which has been running since 2010 and offers school-leavers a practical alternative route into the IT industry from university (as well as offering suitable candidates a permanent role at the end of it). This dedication has been recognised in ramsac being awarded ISO 9001 and investors in people accreditation, and winning 18 industry awards since its inception.
