Ramsac’s MD Makes Final of IOD Awards

Robert May, managing director of IT solutions consultancy ramsac has been announced as a finalist in the Young Director of the Year Awards from the Institute of Directors (IOD). The award category covers directors who are under 45 years old. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner being held on the evening of Thursday 8 November at the Institute of Directors, in Pall Mall, London.

“I know it's easy to say, but the judges had a really difficult task in reducing over 100 superb entries down to just 15. Most importantly, in so doing they have decided that we should give a total of 5 awards rather than the three we originally planned - in their words, "to properly reflect the quality and the diversity of the entries", said Rodger Broad, Regional Director, IoD South.

May added, “I am delighted to have been made a finalist. It is a great honour and is the result of the hard work of everyone at ramsac and not just one individual.”

ramsac offers a ‘menu’ of outsourced IT services that allows clients to match the individual needs of their organisation. For some clients it may simply be support at the end of the phone, for others a part-time network manager and for many businesses it is help in developing a longer term overall IT strategy. Whatever the requirement clients are guaranteed impartial, jargon-free advice.

The outsourced services menu recognises that no one person can be all things technical to any business. If an SME organisation is to benefit from technology that fully enables their business, they need a whole team of experts on hand at the appropriate time.

One of ramsac’s most successful services is its outsourced IT Director role. As Robert May explains, “Ensuring that IT is driven with real strategy and business focus is key if businesses are going to succeed and remain ahead of their game. Our IT Director service provides board level direction for IT strategy and budgeting.”

“Understanding what a company is trying to achieve means we can ensure that technology is aligned to support the plan, and we can make sure that customers are benefiting from cost and efficiency savings offered by the sensible implementation of IT. As one of my key roles is to act in the capacity of outsourced IT director as well as being MD at ramsac, this recognition from the IOD is even more important to us, it adds real credibility to the service that we provide.”

Maggie Philbin, the popular presenter of TV's Tomorrows World and Steven Norris, the former Transport Minister and London Mayoral Candidate will be at the awards as the guest presenter and after dinner speaker respectively.
