Reality Telecom Increases IP Telephony Features

Reality Telecom has added some features to its already feature-rich IP telephony service for SMEs, Call Navigator IP, including simplifying 'hunt groups', which allow calls to pass from phone to phone until answered or to all ring simultaneously; and call barring for certain ranges of numbers, such as international or premium rate, or even a specific number

Other enhancements include allowing pin number access to conference calls for security, and the listing of recent faxes received as email attachments.

"The changes are incremental," said Simon Slater-Thomas, CEO Reality Telecom, "and part of a continuous improvement package in response to user feedback."

At the same time Reality Telecom has introduced a Christmas offer for its channel partners: four free VoIP handsets for every customer purchasing Call Navigator IP, its flagship managed IP telephony service. Channel partners may use the four Snom 320 handsets for their own stock or offer to customers.

“This is a great offer with a high perceived value for the customer“ said Alan Sawyer, Sales and Marketing Director, Reality Telecom. “We know we have a great service, and the reasons to take it are highly compelling. It is our channel partners who have to ask companies to part with cash at an expensive time of year: this should help smooth the way.”

Analyst firm Gartner expects managed IP telephony services to become the most successful IP voice services over the next three years. According to Gartner, key factors for businesses include a preference for ongoing operational expenditure over upfront capital expenditure, and having the technology managed remotely by service providers is an option for customers who either lack staff expertise in IP voice or otherwise prefer not to use their staff to look after the new technology.
