Rocom Travel North for Latest Workshop Event

Voice and data telecoms distributor, Rocom is celebrating the success of their Avaya Education Vertical Workshop event held in Scotland. This is the fifth workshop in the series focussing on selling into specific vertical markets.

The Workshop was tailored to the unique set-up of the Scottish Education Sector and showed resellers how Avaya IP Office can be effectively positioned as the ideal comms solution within a school environment.

A specialist IT Education Consultant was drafted in as a guest speaker for the event, sharing their expertise and suggestions for overcoming the “pain points” which resellers frequently encounter in this complex market. Tips on the funding models employed by the Scottish Education Sector were included and resellers were shown when and where they should make their initial contact within a school.

Leading headset manufacturer, Plantronics supported the workshop, providing free Bluetooth headsets to resellers who were shown how easy it is to integrate peripherals with their system offerings. Tom Maxwell, Head of Sales at Rocom commented, “Our position as a distributor gives us the opportunity to offer our resellers a wide range of peripherals which can be incorporated into a system sale. This gives resellers a welcome chance to increase margins, with peripherals providing steady income in the future.”

Rocom say feedback from the event was extremely positive; comments included “very useful, excellent location” and “one of the better events I have attended!”

The event follows a series of extremely well received workshops held throughout 2008 on the Education and Legal sectors. The continued success of the vertical events has lead Rocom to plan more for 2009, with several events focussing on different verticals in the pipeline.

Kevin Harrison, Avaya Business Unit Manager at Rocom, commented “resellers got a great insight into how the Education System works in Scotland. Following our previous experience in hosting these events in England we expect to see a pipeline of sales coming through over the next couple of months as our resellers start making inroads into this highly profitable sector.”
