Sainsbury Aims to Make Computer 2000 Audiovisual Distributor of Choice

Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has named Darren Sainsbury as head of its audiovisual business unit and is aiming to establish itself as leading distributor of choice in the sector within 12 months.

A company veteran of 19 years standing, Sainsbury has a track record of establishing Computer 2000 as the number one distributor in specific areas of focus. He was previously business manager for HP notebooks, for Sony VAIO and for other product sets. In each case, be succeeded in establishing Computer 2000 as the leading distributor for these lines in the UK.

He is now planning to do the same for the company’s extensive audiovisual portfolio. “Our aim is to make Computer 2000 the distributor of choice for audiovisual solutions. While there is still a highly specialised sector of the market, most audiovisual products have now moved into the mainstream”, says Sainsbury. “There are opportunities for all resellers in this market and Computer 2000 is the best company for them to work with in audiovisual. We have the products they need, the focused resource to actively support sales and the backroom logistics engine to drive growth for the channel.”

There is, he adds, a real need for a distributor with Computer 2000’s capabilities to make its presence felt in the audiovisual space. “While the audiovisual market is growing at a healthy pace, it could grow much faster if resellers were able to maximise efficiency and cost of product supply. It is important to make a healthy profit but also to drive growth and maximise potential and we believe that potential to be very significant indeed.”

Computer 2000 is aiming to be the leading distributor of choice in the audiovisual space within a year. “We have the capabilities to meet the demand in all respects. We are putting more focused resources in place and giving resellers exactly what they need in order to drive sales growth in audiovisual. We can and we expect to be our reseller partners’ preferred choice for everything audiovisual now on.”

There is already a strong team of people focused on audiovisual and Computer 2000 plans to expand this by adding two new field-based sales staff to provide active support for resellers on audiovisual sales. It is also bringing on new vendor partners – recent additions include Ergotron, Vogel’s, and ATEC – and it expects to add more in the months ahead.
